After less than one year in service, the free Alert I.D. program is being credited with helping to lower Washoe County’s crime rate by a staggering 32 percent. “When people are aware, and they have information, they can do great things,” said Sheriff Mike Haley.

The Washoe Drive Fire was declared fully contained at 6:00am Saturday. The fire burned 3,177 acres. At 8:00am Saturday, all evacuation areas were re-opened, according to Mark Regan with Sierra Fire Protection District.
